This guide will help you set-up, use, troubleshoot, and return your University-issued iPad.

Time to Return your iPad?

Is it time to return your University-issued iPad?

Your iPad must be returned any time you are not actively taking classes or when required by your campus.  Please return the iPad to the appropriate department prior to leaving campus on your last day.

In order to return the iPad, you must:

  • remove your passcode
  • remove your iCloud & iTunes accounts, and
  • restore the device to factory settings.

Use the resources below if you need assistance with these tasks.

How to Reset an iPad

Prior to resetting the iPad, make sure you have backed up everything to iCloud. Once you reset the iPad, all items not backed up will be lost.

  1. Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi. To do this, open the Safari web browser and go to a website you don't normally go to. If prompted for your network credentials, enter them and connect using ECPINET. Once connected, proceed to step 2.
  2. Sign out of iCloud and iTunes & App Store. **You must be connected to Wi-Fi in order to delete the account**
    • If you're using iOS 10.3 or later: from the Home screen, tap Settings--[your name]. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off.
    • If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier: from the Home screen, tap Settings--iCloud--Sign Out. Tap Sign Out again, then tap Delete from My [device] and enter your Apple ID and password. Then go to Settings--iTunes & App Store--Apple ID--Sign Out.
  3. Go back to Settings and tap General--Reset--Erase All Content and Settings. If you turned on Find My iPhone, you might need to enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. If asked for your device passcode or Restrictions passcode, enter it. Then tap Erase [device].
