Intelligence Sharing is the sharing of intelligence information with different agencies within the same government or sharing with other governments. More fully explained, it is "the ability to exchange intelligence, information, data, or knowledge among Federal, state, local or private-sector entities as appropriate." Intelligence sharing also involves intergovernmental bilateral or multilateral agreements and through international organizations (coalition partners). Intelligence sharing is meant to facilitate the use of actionable intelligence to a broader range of decision-makers.
Information Sharing is closely tied with intelligence sharing, but while it may share the same methods of dissemination, it involves non-evaluated materials that have not been put through the rigors of the intelligence cycle.
